E-1 | c/Seaman Recruit (SR)
Description: None. Assigned to every new cadet in the NJROTC program.
 
 
E-2 | c/Seaman Apprentice (SA)
Description: The collar device is Two silver diagonal stripes. When qualified, cadets can advance to SA in the first year.
 
 
E-3 | c/Seaman (S)
Description: The collar device is Three silver diagonal stripes. When qualified, cadets can advance to SN in the first year.

 
 
E-4 | c/Petty Officer 3rd Class (PO3)
Description: The collar device is a perched eagle over one chevron. An Outstanding cadet may achieve this rate during their first year.

 
 
E-5 | c/Petty Officer 2nd Class (PO2)
Description: The collar device is a perched eagle over two chevrons. Advancement of this rate is normally acquired during the second year.
 
 
E-6 | c/Petty Officer 1st Class (PO1) 

Description: The collar device is a perched eagle over three chevrons. Advancement of this rate is normally acquired during the second or third year.

 

 
E-7 | c/Chief Petty Officer (CPO)
Description: The collar device is an eagle perched over a fouled anchor. Cadets can acquire this rate during their second, third, or fourth year.
 
 
E-8 | c/Senior Chief Petty Officer (SCPO)
Description: The collar device is an eagle and one star perched over a fouled anchor. Cadets can acquire this rate during their third, or fourth year.
 
 
E-9 | c/ Master Chief Petty Officer (MCPO)
Description: The collar device is an eagle and two stars perched over a fouled anchor. Cadets can acquire this rate during their third, or fourth year and are assigned the position of Command Master Chief.
